EquiConnect

EquiConnect

CCTV cameras are routinely used to monitor admitted horses in a hospital setting, and at BELL EQUINE we have multiple stables covered by CCTV to help our clinical teams with patient care.

Bell Equine are working with the company Vet Vison AI to trial the EquiConnect system to monitor horses' activities whilst in our hospital with stable cameras using artificial intelligence (AI). This includes monitoring key behaviours such as sleeping and eating, as well as indicators of disease. This AI data will be reviewed by the Vet Vison AI team and the Bell Equine hospital team. The system observes horses in their stables 24/7, and the AI-enabled monitoring system is designed to help detect early signs of discomfort or distress to help improve animal health and welfare, both in a private setting or in hospital settings.

Vet Vision AI are working with researchers at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science to investigate activity patterns of hospitalised horses and behaviours associated with disease, such as colic and lameness. The images and data obtained from hospitalised horses may be used for research alongside our partners Vet Vison AI and the University of Nottingham, however, all data / information is anonymised and will never be passed on to any additional commercial third parties. All clinical records and data is anonymised as per our hospital procedures for clinical research.

If you do not want your horse to be monitored in the stable or for the data to be used for research, please ensure you have indicated this on admission to the hospital, and informed the vet in charge of your horse's care.

For additional information or any queries about the AI monitoring, please speak to our team.
